I don't know if many who are homeschooling now remember the books on Records that came out  from about mid 1940's to mid 1960's.  Along with the little story books that were on records you could also find classical music and other music.  Bible Stories, Foreign Languages (Spanish, French, German) and so much more.
I found a site that I think you will enjoy with your children.

Children's Vinyl Record Series has over 120 old records on their site that not only your children will enjoy but I think it will bring a lot of memories back or maybe even start new memories between you and your children.

To start go to http://www.artsreformation.com/records/  and you and your children can begin to enjoy what you might have enjoyed as a child or maybe Grandma can tell your children how the records worked.

Bible Based Homeschooling

When my children were 7,10 and 11 I removed them from Public School because of a lot of emotional abuse by teachers (my daughter)  and a school psychologist (my youngest son).  I always wanted to teach them with the Bible but in those days Homeschool wasn't what it is today.  We were the only people homeschooling where we lived then.  Everyone but 2 Public School teachers were totally against it.  But we saw what the Schools were becoming and we were also adamant that they were not going to be subjected to that.
Since there was only ACE and Alpha Omega that we knew of we ended up using ACE because it was what we could afford.  I did find a Curriculum somewhere in New England that used only the Bible but could not afford it at that time.  When we did have the money I wrote for a catalog and received my letter back.  They were not longer where they had been.  I never did find out what happened to them.
Fast forward 29 years and I have found a wonderful site that is offering a eBook  called " Bible Based Homeschooling: Our Experiment with Using the Bible as Our Main Textbook" by Karen Debus.  She has some freebies to download and a newsletter that you can sign up for so you can get new freebies as she offers them.
I think this is a great site.  Check it out and you might just find yourself using the Bible as your main textbook.

I will try and send the Information on the Founders Bible in the next day or so.  This Bible is the Best book to use when Teaching American History from the Beginning of the United States up to about the Mid 1900's.  It has materials that you will wonder why you were not taught about all of the history it has between the covers along with the Bible.  The Bible translation it uses is the NASB and although I'm not particularly  trilled with this version I can always use my Geneva or 1611 KJV Bible for the Bible Reading itself for the verses that I don't agree with the translation.

Enchanted Homeschooling Mom

Have you ever found a site that just makes you wish you could get everything that is on it.  I have.  I get the Enchanted Homeschooling Mom's newsletter and she always has something great in it that she is giving away.  She also has a lifetime membership for downloading her materials for as long as you wish.  The cost is only $15.00.  Not much I know but if you are like me every penny counts so right now I am going to have to be satisfied with her freebies.  And they are fantastic.
Right now she is offering her Plant Journal for free.  All you have to do is go about 1/4 of the way down on her main page and click on the link for her " Spring Into Learning with 35+ FREE Spring Printables Round Up"   and look for the free Plant Journal.  It's 17 pages long with 30 days of pages to record what your plants look like from the day you plant the seed to day 30.  You could also use the journal pages ever 2-3 days so that you have a bit more time to record your plant changes.  But remember the old saying  "A watched pot will not boil" so have your children go slow so they are not disappointed with their plant.
To go to the site just click on the link and look around.  You will find a lot of materials that you will enjoy for your children from Kindergarten to 5th grade.
If you would like to get her freebies you will need to sign up for her newsletter but you will not be overwhelmed with them.

“Passover for Christian Families is a unique way to help your family celebrate the life of Jesus. Passover is a holiday first celebrated by the children of Israel to help them remember their miraculous deliverance out of the hands of the wicked Pharaoh to freedom. Traditionally, a special meal was shared by the family and the story of God's deliverance is retold. The Israelites looked forward to a time when a Savior would come to them to deliver them from spiritual bondage to freedom. Jesus was that "Passover lamb." He came to the world and delivered us from sin and spiritual death. His sacrifice is what makes us spiritually free!”
